Things to do on Cape Clear Island
For those of you craving a bit of adrenaline, why not book snorkelling, kayaking, sea and rock fishing, or diving to the many wrecks surrounding the island. It is always best to pre-book these before you come.
Going on a whale and dolphin watching trip, with seals, sharks, even leatherback turtles is a must for those wanting a sea adventure.
April and October are rare bird spotting times, as Cape Clear is on the migration paths. Visit in
May for all the glorious wild flowers and a bit of basking shark spotting. June, the quiet start
of summer, perfect for loving couples and sunny days. July for the warmth of the summer
when the island is in full swing. August sees the regatta, filling the small harbours to
bursting point. September brings the magical International Storytelling Festival
all over the island, with guests from around the world. October to March bring
tranquillity to the island once more, with fewer visitors but still a warm
welcome for those wanting to get away from it all.
