Cape Clear, Ireland’s southernmost
Irish speaking inhabited island is 3
miles long by 1 mile wide and lies 8 miles
off the coast of West Cork. The Fastnet Lighthouse stands 3 miles west of the island
so we are pretty isolated to say the least.
Accessible by a 45 minute ferry trip from Baltimore, relax in the islands’ tranquility
and beauty of the romantic scenery, with
rocky cliffs and shimmering harbours. The
ever-changing colours of the hillsides, where wild flowers mix with the yellows and purples
of gorse and heather, turning to the rich autumn gold of bracken.
It is a magical, safe place to be, whether
you are wandering along being enveloped
in the beauty of the scenery or standing
at the waters’ edge watching the waves
ascending the rocky island edges.
